Who provides the service

PermitLane is provided by SPAKLABS AI INC. Contact hello@permitlane.ca for support, privacy requests and account recovery. Support is best effort on Alberta business days, with no guaranteed response time.

What PermitLane does

PermitLane organizes permit requirements, responsibilities, dates, document records and recorded outcomes. It presents the next action from the project’s recorded state.

Your company is responsible for authorized access, accurate records, technical work, professional advice where needed, municipal accounts, applications, fees and communication with the authority.

PermitLane does not submit applications, expedite municipal review or guarantee completeness, acceptance, timing, approval or inspection results. Record an external event only when it has actually occurred.

Use only company access and information you are authorized to use. Do not share account credentials, bypass access controls or use a homeowner link as access to the full project.

PermitLane takes an encrypted backup of company records and accepted files every night and keeps the seven most recent copies outside the application host. Keep your original files and export your records regularly: a backup is a recovery aid, and recovery of lost customer data is not guaranteed.

Starting your trial

Create an account by verifying your email, then enter your company name. No invitation or operator admission is required. The trial is free for 14 days with no payment card. The verified Owner must save the recovery code and accept the current terms and privacy notice before activation. The server records activation and expiry in UTC. Signing in, receiving an invitation, refreshing or recovering an account does not restart the trial. Municipal coverage is the list published in the project coverage section at permitlane.ca/#coverage when you sign up; coverage expands only when additional playbooks are published.

Included capacity

Three active members, including the Owner; unexpired invitations reserve seats. Five active and 50 retained projects. Draft and paused projects count as active. Closed and cancelled projects count as retained. Files have a 5 GiB retained logical-byte limit and a 10 MiB limit per file; retained revisions and pending or quarantined uploads count.

Model work is limited to 100 dispatched attempts and USD 5 for the entire trial, as well as 100 attempts and USD 5 per UTC month and 10 attempts per UTC day. Retries and uncertain outcomes count. These are limits, not a guarantee of 100 successful results. New work may stop at an allowance or operating-capacity limit. There are no automatic overage charges.

At a limit, PermitLane blocks the operation needing more capacity. Authorized reading, export, recovery and safe access revocation remain available within the applicable access period. Capacity does not authorize automatic deletion or an invented permit answer.

When the trial ends

At the recorded trial expiry, normal writes and work that incurs provider costs stop, and public homeowner links are disabled. Current authorized members can read and export records, recover access and safely revoke access until 60 days after trial expiry. Normal access then closes. A disposition review allows seven full days from its actual start; a delayed review cannot shorten that period.

Service notices are scheduled three days before trial expiry, at expiry, and 30 and 53 days after expiry. A failed, missing or uncertain notice requires review before deletion. Expiry or silence alone never authorizes deletion.

No automatic subscription

A trial does not create a Stripe subscription or schedule a charge. Starter’s separately accepted offer is CAD 59 per company per month, plus applicable tax. A purchase requires the verified Owner’s explicit choice and confirmed payment through the offered checkout. Unused trial days do not create credits or proration.

Previous trial use

Creating another account or company does not reset eligibility before the trial-use record’s original 24-month expiry. After that instant, a further trial requires a new operator admission, duplicate-organization review and available capacity. Another trial is never automatic. A preservation hold does not itself extend the automatic eligibility block.

Export and deletion review

Before company deletion, PermitLane must resolve notice delivery and preservation holds, and verify a complete export package with the authorized customer’s acknowledgement, or the customer’s explicit verified request declining export and requesting deletion. A prepared download, incomplete package or silence is insufficient. A hold suspends deletion without restoring normal product writes.

Corrections add records instead of rewriting earlier submission, review, inspection or activity history. Accepted evidence has no automatic age-based deletion during entitled use. Reviewed company deletion is a separate maintenance operation and must preserve identities or records still required by another retained company.

What changed in version 6

Version 6 corrects one paragraph of version 5 — PermitLane now takes an encrypted backup of company records and accepted files every night and keeps the seven most recent copies outside the application host, where version 5 said recurring backups were not yet available; keeping your original files and exporting your records regularly is still asked of you, because a backup is a recovery aid and recovery of lost customer data is not guaranteed — and changes nothing else: every other sentence about signup, coverage, the 14-day term, the recovery code, activation and expiry is carried over unchanged, and versions 1 to 5 stay published at their own paths with every acceptance recorded against them.
